I TRIED MLM AND TRADITIONAL JOBS BUT ALWAYS WANTED MORE.
Since graduating high school, I have supported myself and made what would be considered a decent salary. But there was always something missing. I remember when my son was little, realizing that I needed to make a change if I was going to be able to see his 2nd grade play. My commute was long and I didn’t have the accrued time to take the day off. I wanted to be more independent and make more money.
I put myself through college and became a Registered Dietitian. Although this gave me a little more autonomy, I was burdened with the pressures of working under many regulatory agencies. And I still had the constraints of a traditional job and the limitations of a set salary.
Over the past 20 years, I have tried several MLMs, from cosmetics to nutritional supplements. I have looked at many other opportunities, including travel, vitamins and boxes of air. I did all of the things they tell you to do: held home parties, called all of my neighbors, friends, and co-workers; sent direct mailings; set up my generic affiliate website and made cold-calls. All with minimal success, until one day, my accountant said to me “You can’t make any money at this!”

I was the Nutrition Services Director of the Meals on Wheels program at a community based non-profit organization when she came to be the CEO. She led by example. Watching her interactions with the 100+ employees and 400 volunteers showed me a lot about developing and maintaining respectful relationships and effective leadership. More than that, she has been a friend and a mentor. Her vision, clarity and integrity have shown me a better way to relate to others and get things done, from managing my own staff to raising my children. Linda has helped me to develop and sharpen the skills needed to be a successful entrepreneur and a happier, more engaged person.
That was 9 years ago. Linda and I continue to work well together. We have complementary skills and strengths and share the same values, entrepreneurial spirit and mindset.
